Withthe daily growth in internet and networks usage,more amount oforganizational information is transmitted via computer networks. Havingthis fact in mind would result to pay more attention on protectingorganizational information. Lack of sufficient knowledge in informationsecurity would expose important information in danger. Securing theorganization must be implemented in various levels (from executives toordinary employees). Therefore training employees,personnel and networkadministrators of organizations about topics related to network andcomputer security can play an essential role in protecting theorganizations privacy. Besides training organizational staff,ITinfrastructure must be secured. This includes software,hardware andservice hardening. But still having a secure IT system in any timedoesn’t mean having secure IT system forever. Security policies alsomust be updated with the daily pace of security threats.
Managing all the above processes is both critical and hard. Handlingsuch tasks needs more than a network administrator or even an ITsecurity division. This would lead to establish IT security firms. As aresult,in Iran the Research faculty of Information Technologyassociated with Iran Telecommunication Research Center has createdComputer Emergency Response Teams. These teams known as APA (AcademicProtection and Awareness) were established in selected universities. APACenter located at Isfahan University of Technology started operation in2007 with the intention of providing service in the fields of networksecurity and network disorders. This center is a network research groupaffiliated to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department ofIsfahan University of Technology and consists of experienced facultymembers and top graduate students in the field of network and security.
